Things to do this weekend in Ireland | July 21-July 23

A selection of events taking place in Ireland this weekend.

Swords Summer Festival

The festival returns for the third year with lots of entertainment, family fun and the competitive Fingal 10km. Activities include Live Music, Family Fun Fair, a Puppet Show headlined by Bosco and much more.

Galway International Arts Festival

Two hundred thousand attended last year as the Galway International Arts Festival presents and produces programmes of the highest quality across all art forms featuring theatre, music, visual arts, opera, street spectacle, dance, discussion and comedy. This year's festival runs from July 17th to Jul 30th.

Boyle Arts Festival

A wonderful programme of events and live music over eleven days in Boyle featuring top acts include Brian Kennedy, Declan O'Rourke and The Three Tenors and Miriam O'Callaghan will interview Carol Coleman.

Roller Jam, Limerick

The popular Roller Skate rink in Limerick is having a Rock n' Roller Disco this Friday from 19:30-21:30. It's a child-friendly 'Back To The 80s' night featuring music from Prince, Bon Jovi and Michael Jackson.

Festival of Curiosity, Dublin

Running for four days from Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd July there are Playful Days featuring a range of children's and family events including pop-up playground, bubble show and family treasure hunt and Curious Nights with a programme for adults.

Bray Air Display, Wicklow

Over a hundred thousand people will visit Bray next weekend to enjoy the spectacular air display in the skies of Wicklow and South Dublin as well as enjoying the fun family activities and events on land.

Townlands Carnival

Townlands Carnival is a three day, unique participatory Music & Arts Festival taking place near Macroom this weekend. This is a family event with a dedicated kids area & entertainment for the younger festival goer all weekend as well as music from a diverse range of local and international acts.

Wells House & Gardens

Bring a picnic and enjoy Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, an unforgettable story of love, family and friendship set in the depths of Victorian England in conjunction with Chapterhouse Theatre. Don't forget to dress for the weather and bring your own seats and blankets.

Foynes Air Show

The fifth Foynes Air Show on Saturday, 22nd July, promises to be the most spectacular yet.

Having started to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first Trans-Atlantic flight, this year sees them team up with Aviation Ireland and Bray Air Show ensuring a fantastic selection of aircraft takes to the skies over Limerick.

Kildare Maze Activity Park

The popular maze near Naas is looking for Wally this Saturday & Sunday from 12-5pm. Join the fun and search for Wally and you could win a Where's Wally? goody bag.

Dublin Maker

As part of the Festival of Curiosity, the Dublin Maker Festival returns to Merrion Square on Saturday, July 22nd.

Liberties Festival

The 48th Annual Liberties Festival has loads of family-friendly, sporting and community events and exciting arts programme as well as a free fun family day out on Saturday in St. Patrick's Park.

Ulster Flying Club Open Day 

The Ulster Flying Club will be hosting an airfield open day on Sunday 23rd July 2017 at Newtownards Airport between 10:00 & 16:00. Various activities are available on the day including an opportunity to get up close to the aircraft,  a Model Air Display, Flight Simulator, Bouncy Castle, Trial Flights and Various kids activities

Athy Angling Club

There is a KIds Fun Day of Fishing and BBQ in Kellyville Lakes on Sunday 23rd from 2 pm - 5 pm. All are welcome and there will be a limited stock of fishing gear available on the day.

Bundoran Street Party

A free, fun family event on Saturday afternoon featuring Bouncy Castles, Bungee Run Rodeo Bull, Gladiator Ring, Carnival Workshops, Face Painting and more.

National Museums of Ireland

Another great weekend of free drop-in activities. Find out what is was like in Ireland during the Bronze Age at The National Museum of Archaeology on Saturday from 11:30-13:30. Handle replica artefacts and find out how people used metal for their weapons and tools.

On Sunday from 15:00-16:00 there is a hands-on history tour in the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Collins Barracks. A fascinating drop-in handling session for all ages.

The National Museum of Archaeology has another free tour on Sunday from 15:00-15:45 exploring some of the iconic treasures including the Tara’ Brooch and the Ardagh Chalice.

GAA Hurling All-Ireland Quarter Final

The meeting between Clare and Tipperary will take place in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, July 21 with a 3 pm throw-in, while Wexford will face Waterford in the same venue on Sunday, July 22 (throw-in 4 pm). The Wexford v Waterford match will be preceded by the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Final between Cork and Kilkenny at 2 pm. 

Corofin North Clare Agricultural Show

The annual agricultural show takes place this weekend in Corofin. The fun day out includes competitions in classes for horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, donkeys, flowers, vegs, home baking, crafts, poultry and much more. There will also be lots of fun family activities. 

Schull Agricultural Show

Schull Agricultural Show and Country Market is a popular family and community event held annually at the town park. This year's event takes place on Sunday, July 23rd from 12 pm and promises to be a fun, family day out.
