Our 2020 Festival will be a virtual affair - and FREE!

The Mayo Dark Sky Festival celebrates the pristine dark skies of the west of Ireland, beloved of amateur astronomers, nature lovers, writers, artists and photographers.

The 2020 event will take place online, with 11 FREE webinar events, including...

• a virtual HIKE through the Nephin Beg mountains, site of ancient bones discoverd in 2018 (by the man who disovered those bones)
• an exploration of the concept of LIGHT (including a demonstration of how to measure the speed of light using a chocoate bar and a microwave oven!) 
• Renowned botanist and broadcaster Éanna ni Lamhna in conversation with DARA McANULTY, youngest ever winner of the Wainwright Prize for nature writing for his book  'Diary of a Young Naturalist'
• A virtual tour of the night sky with Dr. Niall Smith of Blackrock Castle Observatory
• and LOTS MORE besides!
