The weather outside might be frightful, but there are still loads of fun things to do this weekend.

GAA Museum Junior Explorer Tours

The GAA Museum at Croke Park has announced it will be bringing back it’s wildly popular Junior Explorer Tour for young families on Saturday mornings from 17th February to 26th May.

The family-friendly tour, created to bring to life the magic of the home of Gaelic games for younger visitors, was a sell-out success last year with the countries littlest GAA fans taking over the iconic stadium. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and the route is fully accessible for buggies.

Dinosaurs Around the World

Dinosaurs Around the World will transport you into the era of the dinosaur for a tour of an Earth very different from today. With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, fossils, authentic casts, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles as it comes to life! 

Sligo Children's Book Festival

The Sligo Children's Book Festival runs from Friday 2nd to Saturday 31st of March, with lots of book-related fun activities for children to enjoy.

Events will take place at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, The Model and schools in Sligo. The festival kicks off on Friday 2nd from 4.30pm to 6.30pm with an action-packed evening of Roald Dahl themed fun at the Hawk’s Well. Dress up as your favourite Roald Dahl character and you might even win a golden ticket!!

Huckleberry's Den

Due to the success of their last event, Huckleberry's Den in Navan will host another Special Needs Event on Sunday, March 4th from 10am-12pm. There will be plenty of fun and games for everyone, and of course free juices and tea for parents!

New Music Dublin

At precisely 18.03 (sunset) on 1st March 2018, New Music Dublin 2018 will kick off with Crash On The Steps and finish four days later with a mass rendition of Louis Andriessen’s Workers Union.

Old Cork Waterworks Family Day

Old Cork Waterworks Experience will host a family fun Engineering themed open day on Sunday March 4th from 11am to 4pm. Admission is free, children and adults may enjoy a series of stands and activities to discover the many roles of engineering

After a hugely successful Festival last uyear, the annual Ennis Book Club Festival will be back with its unique mix of readings, discussion, comedy and chat in one of Ireland's friendliest towns.

Xtreme Funfair Swords

Xtreme Funfair returns to The Pavillions in Swords where you can enjoy all the attractions from the family rides to the white knuckle rides. They open on Friday 2nd March and run through to the St.Patrick's Day weekend. Tickets are pay-as-you-go or you can pre-purchase tickets online in advance for a discount.

Dublin Internatinal Film Festival

The festival might conclude this weekend but there are still loads of great films to see including Vamperina, a sparking animation from Brown Bag Flims,  the Damo & Ivor feature-length movie, Fantastic Flix Shorts in the Omniplex, Rathmines and Lighthouse cinema on Saturday morning.

Winter Wooly Walk

Cancer Fund for Children annual family-friendly Winter Woolly Walks concludes this weekend in Roe Valley Country Park, Limavady.

Supported by Ni4kids, Winter Woolly Walk encourages families from across Northern Ireland to enjoy a short 2-4 mile walk in a stunning local park, whilst also raising funds to support local families affected by cancer. 

Dublin Chinese New Year Celebrations

The Year of the Dog celebrations conclude this weekend with Tai Chi workshops for children, Asian Food Tours, live music comedy and the 2018 Irish Confucius Cup.

Museum of the Moon

Museum of the Moon is a temporary exhibit running until 4th of March at in W5, Interactive Discovery Centre in Belfast. It features a seven metre 3D replica of the moon using detailed NASA images of its surface.

The artwork allows you and your children to experience the moon in a different way due to the nearness and detail of the exhibit.

The View from Earth, the View from Space: Exhibition

'The View from Earth, the View from Space' is an exhibition of art and science celebrating astronomy, the planets and the stars, as part of the NI Science Festival. This exhibition brings together great art that captures the awe of the celestial bodies alongside scientific artefacts and photographs by leading astronomers. 

The exhibition runs at the EastSide Gallery in Belfast until Sunday 25 March and admission is free.
