The 2023 Sligo County Agricultural Show takes place on Saturday 15th July in Riverstown Community Park.
This annual event, held in our picturesque village since 1994, celebrates rural living and agricultural heritage. Our County Show was previously based in Sligo Town for over 90 years – that’s how the Showgrounds got its name!
Our Show is a great opportunity for farmers and families from the region to showcase their animals, homegrown vegetables, home baking and craft. It’s a great day out for competitors & visitors alike. Animal Classes include Horse, Pony, Donkey, Sheep, Cattle, Poultry, Dog & Cat, including 17 Classes that qualify for National Show Finals.
Other Sections include Bonny Baby, Little Miss Riverstown, Little Master Riverstown, Glamorous Granny, Greatest Grandad, Best Dressed Lady & Dashing Dude. Further attractions include the annual Connacht Gold Kitchen, complimenting our Domestic Arts Section. We are very grateful for Aurivo’s continuous support of our County Show.
Children can participate in Art, Photography, Lego Making and Baking in the Domestic Arts Section free of charge. Children get free entry to our Show, free face painting, and from 2pm a free pony ride thanks to Lough Bo Equestrian Centre. Visitors will be entertained this year by Mr Majestic professional Comedy Magician who will visit all areas of our Show engaging with visitors and volunteers alike, with a grand finale performance in the Connacht Gold Tent. Pat’s Country Roadshow will provide musical entertainment throughout the day, with the main live musical attraction hitting the stage at 230pm.
This year along with James & Nathan Vance’s Angola Goats, who have been a huge hit at our previous Shows, visitors will be delighted to meet miniature Dexter Cow Strawberry, granddaughter of the smallest Cow in the world, and her Dexter calf as well as rare breed sheep; Dorper, Valley Blacknose and White Soay. Join us and all our glorious farm animals and pets, on Saturday 15th July for a heartwarming day for all the family.
With the tastiest of food, the finest of coffee and lots of stalls to browse, Riverstown Community Park is the place to be on Saturday 15th July. Our Show is always held on the third Saturday in July each year – a definite annual date for the diary. We look forward to welcoming you all on the day.
