Visitor Information Access to the monuments at Newgrange and Knowth is only by guided tour from the Brú na Bóinne Visitors Centre on the south side of the river Boyne. Newgrange and Knowth are on the north side of the river, a limited number of visitors per day cross the river by pedestrian bridge and take a shuttle bus to Newgrange or Knowth. There is no direct public access to Newgrange or Knowth by road, except for the mornings around the Winter Solstice when there is free public access to Newgrange. Opening Times Newgrange Brú na Bóinne Visitors CentreThe Brú na Bóinne Visitors Centre and the actual Newgrange monument are open all year round except for December 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th. Knowth is open for the 2016 season from Good Friday March 25th and will be open 7 days a week up to and including Wednesday November 2nd. Last admission to the Visitor Centre is 45 minutes before closing. Last tour of Newgrange and Knowth monuments is 1 hour 45 minutes before closing time of the Visitor Centre. February - April: Daily 09.30 - 17.30. May: Daily 09.00 - 18.30. June - Mid September: Daily 09.00 - 19.00. Mid - End September: Daily 09.00 - 18.30. October: Daily 09.30 - 17.30. November - January: Daily 09.00 - 17.00. Tickets for individuals and small groups are sold on a first come first served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Demand for tours of the Newgrange and Knowth monuments is very high during the summer months. It is advisable to arrive as early in the day as possible to avoid a long wait or the disappointment of finding all the tours for that day sold out. The Brú na Bóinne Visitors Centre includes an extensive exhibition including a full scale replica of the chamber at Newgrange as well as a full model of one of the smaller tombs at Knowth. There are Audiovisual presentations in English, Irish, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The Restaurant / Tearoom serves a good range of food and tasty snacks, the surroundings are bright and comfortable with a seating capacity of 110. The Centre is fully accessible to visitors with disabilities - including toilet facilities. Assist dogs welcome, no pets allowed in the Visitor Centre or at the monuments.
